The 7♦️ reminds us that body and mind are not just connected but one thing. We need to have regular practices to maintain good communication between our thoughts and the other messages coming from our bodyminds.
We might spend too much time up in our heads. Here are reminders that we can move into our wider body. This can be more difficult than it sounds as we can have strange relationships with the body that carries us around. We may need our Compassion cards Q♠️ and 5♦️ here and our Shadow too.
There are lots of different ways of using our body here:
grounding techniques (6♦️)
body scan - systematically moving our attention from one part of the body to the next
progressive muscular relaxation - systematically tensing and relaxing different muscle groups and moving through the body
somatic movements - gentle mindful movements to release stored tension and promote a sense of safety in the body examples can be yoga and tai chi
music - can have a powerful effect on bodymind regulation, promoting relaxation, shifting mood states, improving cognitive function, supporting other therapeutic practices, as a means of expression. Listening to binaural beats where two slightly different frequencies are presented to each ear may help some people with relaxation
dancing can be an excellent way of using our body. We can express ourselves, tune into rhythm, pattern and be creative
using cold water to wash your face can triger the mammalian diving reflex which is a physiological response that slows down our heart rate and induces a state of calmness. This can help reduce feelings of stress and anxiety
There are many more, what works for you?
