The 9♦️ encourages us to notice that things can look different from different vantage points.

Look at the card. What does the squirrel see? What do the birds see? What might the tree say?

Reading books, watching films and listening to stories helps us see the world through different eyes. Having perspective, the ability to see situations from others' viewpoints, offers numerous benefits. It enhances empathy, deepening our understanding of diverse experiences and fostering more meaningful connections with people.

By considering different perspectives, we gain valuable insights and can approach problem-solving with a broader mindset, often leading to more effective and collaborative solutions. This skill also reduces conflicts, as it promotes tolerance and open communication.

We can practice asking ourselves questions:

  • What would I think or say if I looked back at this from my death-bed?

  • How might it feel to be the other?

By moving in time and space or shifting to different positions, we can free ourselves from getting stuck in the maze of our habits and have the possibility of becoming more flexible and adaptable.

Here we develop skills to swim more elegantly in the river of life. You might want to take out the Mindsight card - Explainer 6. This is based on the work of Professor Daniel Siegel.
